Pune (Maharashtra), May 21: In an important administrative move, the Maharashtra state government has appointed senior IAS officer Naval Kishore Ram as the new Commissioner of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). He will officially take charge on May 31, replacing the current commissioner, Dr Rajendra Bhosale who is set to retire.
Who Is Naval Kishore?
1. Experienced Officer with a Strong Background
2. Naval Kishore Ram is an IAS officer from the 2008 Maharashtra cadre.
3. He has held several key positions in the past
4. Former District Collector of Beed and Aurangabad
5. Served as Pune District Collector in April 2018, where he worked on several urban governance and civic improvement projects
6. Most recently, he worked in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) in Delhi
7. His wide administrative experience especially in urban management and public service is expected to benefit Pune city.
Official Order Issued
The appointment was announced through a government order issued by the General Administration Department (GAD). The order was signed by Rajesh Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary (Services) and it directs Naval Kishore Ram to take charge from Dr Bhosale in the afternoon of May 31. All concerned departments have been informed for smooth coordination during the transition.

A Key Role in Maharashtra's Urban Governance
The Municipal Commissioner of Pune is one of the most important civic administration posts in Maharashtra. The Commissioner oversees key infrastructure projects and public services like sanitation and water supply and city planning. Ram’s appointment is expected to bring strong leadership and continuity to the civic body’s functioning.
