In the wake of Vaishnavi Hagwane's suicide, her family has come forward with harrowing allegations of severe mistreatment by her in-laws. Vaishnavi, who was married to the son of NCP (AP) office-bearer Rajendra Hagwane, was reportedly subjected to both physical and mental abuse before her tragic death.
According to her father, Vaishnavi was not only beaten and spat on by her sister-in-law but was also constantly harassed by her in-laws for trivial reasons. These details have been mentioned in the FIR copy also. The FIR was filed at Bavdhan Police station on May 17.
The incident has sparked widespread grief and calls for accountability from her in Pimpri Chinchwad.
In an emotional conversation with ABP Majha, Vaishnavi's father shared distressing details, stating that his daughter began facing trouble merely five to six months after her marriage. "Whenever she came home after a couple of months, she would say, ‘Pappa, give me money.’ She didn’t even have proper clothes to wear," he said.
Meanwhile, in a call recording which went viral on social media, the deceased was heard saying she regrets marrying and abuse by her in-laws.

He further added that during the wedding, the family provided significant gifts, including silver items, gold, and a vehicle. “We gave five silver plates weighing over seven kilos, 51 tolas of gold, and a Fortuner car. In the Adhik month, I even gave my son-in-law a gold ring. Every time Vaishnavi came home, I gave her ₹50,000 to ₹1 lakh,” he said.
According to her father, Vaishnavi faced constant taunts and criticism. "She was told she didn’t know how to cook or clean. Despite having domestic help at their home, she was made to feel worthless," he alleged. “When we tried to intervene, the harassment would stop briefly but resume again later.”
He also mentioned a recent disturbing incident in which Vaishnavi was allegedly assaulted and insulted. “Two months ago, her sister-in-law reportedly hit her and even spat on her. She was also harassed while traveling in a car. That day, my daughter said she wanted to jump into the river,” he recounted.
Despite attempts to resolve the situation and requests for fair treatment, the father claimed the abuse continued. “I even pleaded with the in-laws to forgive any mistakes. I gave a mobile phone worth ₹1.5 lakh on request, hoping to maintain peace,” he said.
