The newly joined Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Pune Division, Rajesh Kumar Verma, has outlined clear priorities aimed at enhancing train safety, improving punctuality, completing key projects, and elevating the passenger experience. His initiatives align with the vision of a modernized Indian Railways as envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Rajesh Kumar Verma assumed the role of Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Pune Division on Tuesday. A distinguished officer of the 1993 batch of the Indian Railway Stores Services (IRSS), Verma holds a Civil Engineering degree and a postgraduate qualification in Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering from IIT Delhi. Previously, he served as Chief Material Manager in Northern Railway.
Verma has held various roles across Indian Railways in Northern Railway (NR), South Central Railway (SCR), and North Eastern Railway (NER), as well as in its production units at Rail Coach Factory (RCF) and PSUs at RITES and CRIS.
His significant accomplishments include serving as the Team Leader at RITES Ltd, Gurgaon, where he led the procurement of medicines and other supplies for the eradication of Polio and RCH projects on behalf of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. This effort resulted in the distribution of medicines across India, reaching even the most remote locations, including Siachen.

Verma's notable achievement
Verma's notable achievements include successfully implementing all supply chain activities for various IT Projects while serving as the Head of Procurement at CRIS, covering IR functions such as passenger ticketing, freight operations, train control, crew management, and e-procurement.
He is known for his professionalism, leadership, client orientation, and effective matrix management. He has completed advanced management training at ICLIF (Malaysia) and INSEAD (Singapore). He has also trained in International Course MDP on standard Rules & Procedures of the World Bank for Procurement of Goods, Works, and Services for World Bank Funded Projects at NIFM, Faridabad, and in “Introduction to World Bank Procurement and Consultancy Guidelines, Use of ICT in training programs, and Techniques of ToTs” by the World Bank.
Under his leadership, the M&E depot Lallaguda/ South Central Railway (SCR) won the Best Depot Shield, and in appreciation of outstanding work in Warehouse and Supply-Chain, he received an award by the General Manager for Best overall performance.
Beyond his professional responsibilities, Verma has contributed to society as an honorary Chairman of Aakansha, a vocational training center for children with special needs in SCR.
