A shocking incident has come to light in the Yerawada Police Station jurisdiction where a female business process outsourcing (BPO) employee died from excessive blood loss after being attacked by her male colleague in the parking lot near their workplace, police said on Wednesday.
The incident occurred on January 7 around 6:15pm in the parking space of WNS Global Services, a BPO firm, in Yerawada. The accused has been identified as Krishna Satyanarayan Kanoja (30), a resident of Shivajinagar, police added.
According to police, the deceased Shubhada Shankar Kodare (28) and accused Kanoja were working as accountants at WNS Global Services in Yerawada. Kodare was a native of Karad, Satara and had been staying at Balajinagar, Katraj for the last four years.
She had borrowed money from Kanoja a few months ago which she wasn't able to repay, leading to a dispute between them.
On the day of the incident, Kanoja was standing in the parking area. As Kodare got down from the bus, Kanoja, harbouring anger over the dispute, attacked her right hand with a koyta (machete), causing serious injuries.
Nearby people quickly informed the police, and she was taken to Sahyadri Hospital on Nagar Road for treatment. Later, she succumbed to her injuries due to excessive blood loss.
Ravindra Shelke, Senior Police Inspector at Yerawada Police Station, speaking to The Free Press Journal, said, "They both were working in the same company situated in Yerawada. As per the preliminary examination, it came to light that Kodare had taken around Rs four lakhs in instalments for her father's treatment. Kanoja was asking for his money, which led to a dispute between them. We have arrested the accused and are interrogating him."

A case has been registered at Yerawada Police Station under Section 103 (1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 4 and 5 of the Arms Act.
