While Pune’s dating scene remains a hot topic on social media discussions and Reddit posts, a recent post that looked like news from a survey went viral claiming that Pune is the worst city to find love and dating, even defeating Delhi and Mumbai in the race.
The post spread like wildfire and grabbed hilarious reactions on social media. However, in fact, Pune did not feature in any such survey, and the news was a satire post by The Tathya.
It is an Instagram page run by Kiran Kumar that claims to be the world’s first media house created and run by a cat. "Don’t believe it? Good — it’s all satire," it adds. In short, it is satire news.
Satire news is a type of content that uses humor, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule to comment on real-world events, people, or social trends—often mimicking the tone and format of actual news reporting. It’s meant to entertain, provoke thought, or offer critique, not to be taken as literal fact.
While satire news can be insightful or funny, it’s sometimes mistaken for real news, especially when shared out of context—so it's good to verify sources before believing or sharing.
What is the survey actually?
It was actually posted by TimeOut, and Mumbai featured as one of the best cities to find love.
According to this survey, Mumbai tops the list of the best cities for finding love, with 72 percent of respondents feeling positive about their romantic prospects. Other top cities include Beijing, Jakarta, and Shanghai, all scoring above 60 percent. Conversely, Bilbao in Spain ranks lowest, with only 14 percent of locals optimistic about finding love. Major cities like Tokyo, Hong Kong, and Los Angeles also feature among the worst, with less than 30 percent expressing confidence in their dating scenes.
