Thane: Thane Municipal Corporation has launched a special campaign to cut off a total of 134 tap connections from illegal constructions or buildings. Additionally, 79 borewells were stopped and 11 pumps were seized in the TMC region.
Campaign Led by Water Dept Under Commissioner Saurabh Rao's Instructions
A campaign was led by the Water Department of Thane Municipal Corporation and headed by Vinod Pawar, the Suburban Engineer (Water Supply Department) of TMC under the instruction of Commissioner Saurabh Rao.
Water Supply Disconnected After Verification of Construction Legality
According to civic officials, the TMC has launched special campaigns regarding tap disconnection from illegal construction since July 25 of this year.
The civic officials are checking their documents to see if the water supply has been provided to them. They disconnect the water supply if the construction is illegal. Similarly, the water supply would be disconnected if the water pipe is connected illegally to the municipal water supply line.
Illegal Connections Found in Multiple Wards Across City
A special campaign was conducted in the following areas: Diva, Mumbra, Majiwada-Manpada, Kalwa, Uthalsar, and Lokmanya Nagar-Sawarkar Nagar Ward to disconnect the pipe connections of unauthorized constructions.

During campaigns, the unauthorized partially constructions where occupied were inspected, and the pipe connection were disconnected. Pawar said that pumps were also seized and borewells were also closed in some places.
