Panvel Municipal Corporation Hosts Organ Donation Awareness Drive Under ‘Angdaan Abhiyan’

In a strong push to promote organ donation, the Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC) organized an awareness program at C.K.T. College in Khanda Colony on August 5. Panvel: In a strong push to promote organ donation, the Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC) organized an awareness program at C.K.T. College in Khanda Colony on August 5.

Initiative Part of Statewide ‘Angdaan – Jeevan Sanjeevani Abhiyan’

The initiative is part of the state-wide Angdaan – Jeevan Sanjeevani Abhiyan, observed from August 3 to 15, to encourage citizens to come forward as organ donors.

Dr. Kailas Jawade Highlights Importance of Organ Donation in India

Dr. Kailas Jawade, surgeon addressed the gathering, highlighting the urgent and growing need for organ donors in India. “Thousands of patients are waiting for organ transplants, and a single donor can save multiple lives,” he said. Dr. Jawade also explained the donation process, its medical and ethical aspects, and the challenges that hinder widespread participation.

Students and Officials Take Pledge to Support Organ Donation

The event featured a pledge ceremony where students, civic officials, and medical professionals committed to supporting organ donation. Former corporator Dr. Arun Kumar Bhagat, present as the chief guest, praised PMC’s initiative and appealed to citizens to become informed advocates for the cause.

Civic health officials including Dr. Anand Gosavi, Dr. Ganesh Nair, Dr. Usha Naik, and Dr. Anmol Thakur also attended the event.

PMC to Continue Awareness Activities Till August 15

As part of the ongoing fortnight, PMC will continue to organize awareness activities, aiming to dispel myths and motivate the public to register as donors. The corporation has urged residents of Panvel and surrounding areas to actively support the campaign and help save lives through organ donation.
