Nagpur: A deeply distressing incident from Nagpur has sparked outrage after a man was seen transporting the body of his deceased wife, tied to his motorcycle, allegedly due to a lack of assistance from passersby. The tragic event occurred around noon on Sunday, on the Nagpur-Jabalpur National Highway near Morfata, under the Deolapar police’s jurisdiction.

The woman, identified as Gyarsi Amit Yadav, died instantly after being hit by a speeding truck. Her husband, Amit Yadav, said he was left helpless after repeated pleas for help went unanswered. The couple, originally from Seoni district in Madhya Pradesh, had been residing in Lonara, near Koradi, Nagpur, for the past decade.

The accident repotedly took place when the couple was travelling from Lonara to Karanpur via Deolapar. With no vehicle or assistance available to transport his wife’s body back to their native village in Madhya Pradesh, a distraught Amit made the desperate decision to secure the body to his two-wheeler and ride home.

A video capturing Amit riding the motorcycle with his wife’s body tied to the back has gone viral on social media, drawing shock and criticism. Reports quoting eyewitnesses claimed that initially, no one stopped to help. However, after spotting him carrying the body in such a manner, several people attempted to intervene. Amit, fearing confrontation or trouble, refused to stop.

According to a News18 report, the highway police, who allegedly filmed the viral video, initially signalled him to halt, but he continued riding. He was eventually stopped some distance later and the police took custody of Gyarsi’s body. It was sent for postmortem to Nagpur’s Mayo Hospital.
