Lifeguards Rescued One Swimmer After Morning Incident

Around 8.30 am, two men, later identified as Rajkumar Govind Subba (22) and Visghnesh Murugesh Devendram (20), were found by on-duty life guards 200 meters away from the sea shore struggling for their lives. The guards rushed to save both, and Subba was rescued. However, Devendram had washed away in the sea.

Victims Identified as Residents of Vile Parle Slum

"Both were residents of a slum in Vile Parle. Primary information suggests that both were under the influence of alcohol. The MFB stopped the search operation at 1.36 pm during the high tide. The local police have urged the public to report to police station, BMC or MFB if they find the other victim," an official said.

Alcohol Suspected as Cause Behind Drowning Mishap

The police are investigating as why the two friends went towards the sea in the morning, if they were under heavy influence of alcohol and if there was any dispute among them.
