In a passionate appeal ahead of the upcoming Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections, Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray urged his party workers to protect Mumbai from falling into the hands of “two businessmen” and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). “Mumbai is our mother. Don’t let it be sold. We earned it through the sacrifice of 105 martyrs during the Samyukta Maharashtra movement,” Thackeray told branch heads during a key meeting at Shiv Sena Bhavan.
The meeting was convened at Shiv Sena Bhavan, Dadar, to discuss preparations for the BMC and other local self-government elections. Addressing office bearers, Thackeray said, “These two businessmen and the BJP want to seize control of the BMC by wiping out me and my party. But I stand in their way. We must not allow this to happen.”
He clarified, “I am not against Gujaratis, but I oppose those two businessmen sitting in Delhi who are eyeing Mumbai’s control.” Thackeray accused the ruling dispensation of distributing enormous amounts of money to win elections. “Some are even switching sides for money. But I’ve made a clear choice — I will fight them, not join them.”
Thackeray emphasized the significance of the upcoming BMC polls, which are taking place after seven years. “We must hoist the saffron flag once again over Mumbai. To achieve this, strong organizational groundwork is crucial — from branch heads to group leaders and polling agents.”

He directed that:
Every group head must thoroughly study the voters' list.
At least 300 households should be personally contacted by polling agents.
Sub-branch heads must monitor this outreach.
Branch coordinators should unite old and new office bearers.
Deputy division heads must regularly visit branches and work alongside group heads to reach out to voters.
Uddhav Thackeray also reminded party members of Shiv Sena’s legacy. “For the last 30 years, under my leadership, the Shiv Sena has managed Mumbai efficiently — providing services in water supply, health, education, cleanliness, and transport. The ambitious Coastal Road project was also launched during our tenure. We delivered on our promises. This traitor government only knows how to destroy.”
A local Shiv Sena Vibhag Pramukh remarked, “Uddhav Saheb's inspiring speech has boosted our morale. We will not let Mumbai slip away from Marathi hands.”
