Senior Inspector Rajiv Chavan of the MIDC police station has been suspended for dereliction of duty following a raid at Night Lovers Restaurant and Bar in Marol, Andheri East, conducted on Sunday. The suspension order came after a departmental inquiry initiated by the Mumbai Police Commissionerate.
According to sources, the inquiry concluded that Inspector Chavan failed in his duty, which enabled the bar to operate illegally under his jurisdiction. This lapse led to his suspension.

The raid was carried out by Deputy Commissioner of Police Raj Tilak Roshan, along with the Mumbai Crime Branch, during a routine night patrol. During the operation, officials reportedly found over 50 bar girls dancing and engaging in activities that violated licensing regulations, confirming that the bar was operating unlawfully.
Inspector Chavan had been transferred from MIDC police station prior to the Maharashtra Assembly elections in November 2024. He was reinstated to the same post in May, shortly before the raid took place.
