Mumbai: The residents of Mulund are expressing growing dissatisfaction with local governance. This frustration reached new heights during a recent meeting at the Priyadarshani Sports Complex, where community members voiced their concerns regarding delayed renovations and inadequate facilities.
The residents voiced against six-month delay in the renovation of the swimming pool at the Priyadarshani Sports Complex. Local leader Rakesh Shankar Shetty, spokesperson of the Congress Party, criticized the inefficiency of the BJP-led administration, stating, “Despite having our MLA and six corporators, we are still facing severe neglect when it comes to basic amenities and sporting facilities.”
Many parents are particularly upset that the lack of proper swimming facilities has forced their children to travel to the Raheja Complex in Thane. “Our students should not have to go to another city for swimming. We demand immediate action from our elected representatives,” Shetty said.
The members also made allegations against mismanaged funds related to the renovation project. Shetty called for an investigation into the Rs 18 crore budget allocated for the swimming pool’s renovation. “We need transparency and accountability. The authorities must explain why we have not seen any progress,” Shetty added.

The community members also lamented the transformation of the Priyadarshani Sports Complex from a vibrant sports hub to what many describe as a wedding venue. “It’s disheartening to see such a prime facility not being used for its intended purpose,” complained a local parent.
The members are awaiting a proper response from the sports complex complex management.
