Mumbai: A three-year-old boy discovered soaked and roaming alone on a rainy night in Shivajinagar, Govandi, was quickly brought back to his family only hours following his kidnapping, due to the prompt response of the Mumbai Police and the immediate assistance of a caring local resident.
At approximately 11:00 pm on July 8, a woman in the Shivajinagar region noticed the child by himself on Road No 4. Drenched by the rain and evidently disoriented, the boy couldn't express his origins according to report by Midday. The woman, touched by his state, brought him to her home, dried him, and attended to him throughout the night.
The following morning, as she was watching TV, she came across a news segment regarding a missing child and saw the Crime Branch's contact number displayed on the screen. She dialled the number and notified the police that the boy was secure with her.

In a matter of minutes, officers from Crime Branch Unit 6 arrived at her home, verified the boy’s identity, and took him into custody. He was subsequently taken to Shivajinagar Police Station and reunited with his worried family.
The kidnapping took place that day between 12:00 and 14:00 hrs, when the child, who had been sleeping next to his aunt at home, disappeared. At approximately 10:26 p.m., his father, Shabbo Afsar Hashmi, 26, who lives in Govandi, informed the Shivajinagar Police about the incident. A case was filed for the accusations of abduction.
Recognizing the urgency of the case, especially with similar incidents in Mankhurd and Shivajinagar, police launched an operation led by Inspector Bharat Ghone. They reviewed CCTV footage from over 30 locations and shared the child's photo in nearby slum areas.

Their collaborative efforts, along with a compassionate woman who found the boy, resulted in a resolution within 12 hours. Inspector Ghone praised both his team and the public, emphasizing the significance of swift action in abduction cases while investigations continue to find the kidnapper.
