Even as the cause of death of the lady whose body was found in a suitcase along Mumbai-Goa Highway on Monday, is yet to be determined, prima facie, it is believed that the murder had happened 10 days before the body was found. “The post mortem report is still awaited and is expected to reach us on Monday. However, the doctors have told us that the murder possibly would have happened 10 days before. The age is also believed to be between 25 and 30,” police Inspector Sandip Bagul from Pen police Station said.
The police are trying to identify the deceased lady by checking for missing person’s complaints in nearby police stations with whatever specifications they have, including a tattoo of ‘A’ on the right arm.
The body of the unidentified woman was discovered inside a suitcase near the Mumbai - Goa Highway, close to Durshet village, in Pen taluka of Raigad district on Monday morning. The foul smell led villagers to investigate, and they found a large suitcase abandoned in a roadside pit. Suspecting something amiss, they had alerted local authorities.
The body had a night gown on her, a bangle and a finger ring along with a tattoo of her right arm. Using the photographs of these articles and the tattoo, the Pen police are trying to get the body identified to proceed further with tracing the accused who murdered the lady.
