24-Year-Old Arrested In Byculla With Mephedrone, Charas Worth ₹3.46 Crore In Car
This arrest follows another major drug seizure just days earlier, in which Mumbai Police intercepted a 24-year-old man carrying narcotics worth over Rs 3.46 crore. The accused, identified as Sahil Junaid Ansari from Bhiwandi in Thane district, was arrested in the early hours of July 30 in South Mumbai’s Byculla area.
The incident occurred around 4 am, when constables Bhabad, Bhoye, and Gangurde spotted a Maruti Ertiga moving suspiciously near Hume Church on B.A. Road. Upon stopping the vehicle and questioning the driver, Ansari was unable to provide a satisfactory explanation for his presence at that hour, prompting further scrutiny.

Night duty in-charge, Police Inspector Anup Dange, along with PSI Kolekar, PSI Asade from the Anti-Terror Cell, and other detection personnel, reached the spot and conducted a detailed search of the vehicle. Officers uncovered a staggering 1,710 grams of mephedrone (MD), estimated to be worth Rs 3.42 crore on the street.
In addition, 17 grams of charas, worth approximately Rs 4.5 lakh, were also recovered from the vehicle. Sahil Ansari was taken into custody and charged under relevant NDPS Act provisions. The contraband has been seized and sent for forensic examination.
