Palghar: A 20-year-old labourer tragically lost his life after falling from the ninth floor of an under-construction building in Naigaon East, Vasai. The deceased, identified as Sonu Kumar Jiten Das, was working at a construction site located within the GP Complex, owned by Mansukh Patel.
According to information received from the Naigaon Police Station, the incident occurred at approximately 6:09 pm on August 6. Kumar, originally from Bihar, had been residing at Shine Club, Naigaon East, while working as a daily wage labourer.
The police report states that no safety gear such as nets, helmets, or safety belts were provided at the site. While working on the ninth floor, Kumar reportedly lost balance and fell, sustaining severe injuries. He was rushed to the General Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.
The matter is currently under investigation by Sub-Inspector Gunjal from the Naigaon Police Station. Authorities have registered a case under Section 194 of the Indian Penal Code, which deals with violations leading to culpable negligence and safety lapses.
Officials have acknowledged delays in filing the report due to the urgent nature of the situation.
The body has been sent for a post-mortem, and further inquiries are ongoing to determine accountability and whether the construction site violated labor safety norms.
