Palghar: In a major breakthrough, the Crime Detection Unit of Virar Police Station has successfully solved a recent residential burglary case, arresting two accused and recovering stolen gold ornaments worth ₹5.49 lakh.
The case was registered following a complaint from Vishakha Vilas Kasavang (38), who reported that unknown intruders broke into her flat on June 20, 2025, and decamped with gold jewellery and cash while she was away.
Based on her complaint, an FIR was registered at Virar Police Station under Section 305(5) of the Indian Penal Code on July 20, 2025.
Immediately after the complaint, four special teams were formed under the guidance of senior officers. The teams analysed CCTV footage from the vicinity of the crime scene and used technical surveillance and local intelligence to identify the suspects.
Based on a tip-off, the police laid a trap at Manvelpada and Nana-Nani Park in Virar East, where the accused were believed to be hiding. The two suspects were apprehended in a swift and covert operation.
The arrested individuals are Gaurav Sitaram Jogle (21) and Prajwal Kiran Bugde (19).
During interrogation, both confessed to committing the burglary. The police recovered stolen gold ornaments and cash valued at ₹5,49,000 from their possession.
