Mumbai: The Samta Nagar police have registered a case against a 45-year-old doctor for allegedly attempting to sexually assault a 24-year-old female patient at his clinic in Kandivali East. The alleged incident occurred on Sunday between 9.30 and 10.30pm.
The doctor, Dr Dinesh Gupta, is absconding, and the police are searching for him. The case has been registered under sections 64(2)(e) (punishment for rape) and 74 (assault or use of criminal force on a woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
According to the police, the woman visited the clinic, located in Krantinagar, a slum area, accompanied by her 20-year-old sister for a medical check-up. When the patient entered the examination room, Dr Gupta reportedly asked the compounder and her sister to leave and then closed the door.

He then allegedly kissed the victim, touched her inappropriately, and attempted to rape her. Shocked by the assault, she immediately shouted, and her sister came to the door. Dr Gupta’s wife, who is also a doctor, owns the clinic.
