55-Year-Old Techie Found in Distorted State, Living in Complete Isolation in Navi Mumbai Apartment | X/@RealitySach

In a deeply shocking and saddening incident from Navi Mumbai’s Juinagar, a 55-year-old former techie was discovered living in complete isolation for the past three years cut off from the outside world and surrounded by filth inside his apartment.

Videos that surfaced online show the man living in extremely unhygienic and disturbing conditions. His apartment had no furniture, and the floor was filled with trash, primarily consisting of leftover food parcels and packaging. According to media reports, the man survived solely on online food deliveries, discarding the waste inside his home. The visuals, captured when concerned individuals finally entered his flat to check on him, show a place packed with garbage and a foul smell.

The man in the video can clearly be seen in poor condition, with overgrown hair and a distorted manner of speaking to the people who knocked on his door to check on him.

The individual has been identified as Anoop Kumar Nair, a resident of Gharakul Society in Juinagar, Sector 24. Anoop had previously worked as a computer programmer before slipping into what appears to be a prolonged period of depression.

According to a report by Hindi news portal Aaj Tak, Nair began showing signs of severe depression years ago after the death of his brother nearly two decades back. The subsequent loss of his parents is believed to have worsened his mental health, pushing him into complete withdrawal and loneliness.

This tragic case shows how the impact of mental illness often goes unnoticed, particularly among those living in isolation without emotional or social support.

According to a 2018 survey by Podar Institute of Education, around 40 per cent of Mumbai’s youth aged between 20 and 30 have admitted to being depressed. But a small number of them took any step to address this condition.

Disturbed sleep, loss of appetite, constant feeling of fatigue, poor concentration and anxiety disorders should be considered as symptoms of depression.
