Mumbai: Maharashtra’s official ride aggregator app, which aims to ensure dignified compensation for drivers and safe, reliable travel for passengers, will soon be launched and operated by the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC). The announcement was made by Transport Minister and MSRTC Chairman Pratap Sarnaik during a review meeting held at Mantralaya.
About The App
The app will be developed in line with the Centre and State governments’ Aggregator Policy. Several names such as 'Jai Maharashtra', 'Maha-Ride', 'Maha-Yatri', and 'Maha-Go' were considered for the app. However, consensus was reached on the name "Chhava Ride". Minister Sarnaik stated that final approval will be sought from Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, after which the app will be launched soon.

Speaking at the meeting, Minister Sarnaik said the government is committed to providing employment opportunities to Marathi youth and freeing both passengers and drivers from the grip of private companies that charge excessive commissions. The state-run app will cover multiple transport services, including buses, rickshaws, taxis, and e-buses.
He added that operating this official app through MSRTC would not only offer a dependable public transport option but also create a new revenue stream for the corporation.
Transport Minister Sarnaik said the app’s policy framework, as per central aggregator guidelines, is in its final stage. He criticized private companies for profiting unfairly through unauthorized apps and exploiting drivers and passengers alike. “MSRTC already has the necessary infrastructure, technology, manpower, and space. Entrusting it with the operation of this app will benefit both passengers and the corporation,” he added.

“MSRTC’s decades-long trust among passengers will be instrumental in running the government’s official ride aggregator app, while also creating a new source of income.” Said Pratap Sarnaik, Transport Minister
Special Loans for Youth from Mumbai Bank
MLA Pravin Darekar announced that unemployed Marathi youth who get work opportunities through the government app will be provided financial support via Mumbai Bank. Loans for purchasing vehicles will be offered at a 10% interest rate. Moreover, the government will pursue a plan to offer 11% interest subsidy through institutions like the Annasaheb Economic Development Corporation, VJNT Corporation, OBC Corporation, and MSDC. This would make the loans virtually interest-free.
