Mumbai: Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Suraj Chavan, an accused in the Covid khichdi scam, has been allowed to travel to Delhi for party work. Chavan, who was granted bail by the Bombay High Court earlier this year, sought and received permission from the special PMLA court to stay in Delhi for 20 days.
He pleaded that he wanted to go to the Supreme Court concerning intra-party disputes and to attend the party meeting with the UBT MPs at New Delhi.
The plea was objected by the ED. The court, however, granted him permission observing, “There is nothing on record to show that the applicant has misused the liberty granted to him. The right to travel is an aspect of fundamental right guaranteed under the Constitution of India.”

The court has imposed several conditions on him, wherein he has been asked to deposit Rs1 lakh as security. Besides, ED is asked to approach the court, if Chavan is found involved in any suspicious activities.
