Maharashtra News: Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik Orders Swift Relief Measures Following Unseasonal Rain Damage

Palghar: In the wake of heavy unseasonal rainfall and stormy winds that wreaked havoc across the Palghar district, Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik has directed district authorities to begin immediate damage assessment and initiate relief measures. He emphasized the need to ensure public safety and deliver assistance swiftly to the affected areas.

The unseasonal storm, which struck on Tuesday night, resulted in the damage of over 767 homes and caused one fatality due to electrocution. The deceased, identified as 65-year-old Moreshwar Lohar, tragically lost his life after accidentally stepping on a live wire while grazing goats in Vedi village.

The worst-hit area was Dahanu taluka, where 230 houses were reported damaged. Other affected regions include Vikramgad and Wada (92 houses each), Jawhar (89), Mokhada (87), Palghar (85), Talasari (63), and Vasai (29).

In addition to residential damage, around 50 fishing boats and 10 to 12 houses in Dhakti village, located in the Dahanu taluka, were reported to have sustained serious damage due to the storm.

Minister Naik responded promptly to reports of the disaster, instructing senior officials to visit the affected areas and oversee the relief operations. “The administration stands with the affected citizens. Compensation will be provided to all eligible individuals as per government norms. The damage assessment process has already commenced,” he stated.

The downpour affected not only Palghar but also neighboring districts including Mumbai, Thane, and Raigad. Authorities are continuing to evaluate the full extent of the destruction and are working to restore normalcy in the impacted communities.
