According to the weather forecast by IMD, overcast conditions, unseasonal rains and thunderstorms, along with cooler temperatures, will take over Mumbai city and other parts of Maharashtra throughout the week.

Mumbai: The city of dreams, Mumbai, has lately faced severe heat, but the climate is now experiencing considerable shifts. In past couple of days, lightning storms were noted throughout Mumbai and its surrounding areas. Mumbai is experiencing a wet spell due to a western disturbance, bringing thunderstorms and rain to the city, according to weather reports.

Today, May 8, 2025, Mumbai can expect thunderstorms with rain. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert warning, indicating potential thunderstorms, lightning, and localized showers during the late afternoon and evening hours. The temperature is expected to range between 26 and 32 degrees Celsius.

Currently, Mumbai's weather features passing clouds at 28°C, with thundershowers expected, humidity is 79%, with a moderate breeze at 11 km/h. The maximum temperatures can go up to 33 degrees Celsius today.

Maharashtra Weather Today & This Week

A yellow alert has been issued for several districts in Maharashtra, including Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Raigad, and Ahmednagar, indicating potential thunderstorms and localised showers.

The western disturbance is expected to impact weather conditions across the Konkan region throughout the week, causing temperatures to fall by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius. From May 10 onwards, the weather is expected to improve, with partly cloudy skies forecast through May 13.

Mumbai Air Quality Index Today

Mumbai's Air Quality Index (AQI) as per reports from CPCB shows an AQI of 58, categorizing it as 'Satisfactory' air quality. Individuals with breathing problems are recommended to reduce outdoor activities and wear masks.

The Air Quality Index (AQI) is assessed in the following manner:

From 0 to 50 is deemed 'Good', 51 to 100 is deemed 'Satisfactory', 101 to 200 is deemed 'Moderate', 201 to 300 is deemed 'Poor', 301 to 400 is deemed 'Very Poor', and 401 to 500 is deemed 'Severe'.
