Konkan Railway Corporation Limited has announced an additional halt at Nandgaon Road for its recently launched Ro-Ro Car Transportation Service between Kolad in Maharashtra and Verna in Goa.

This move is aimed at enhancing convenience and accessibility for passengers along the coastal route of Maharashtra. With the introduction of this new stop, car owners can now load and unload their vehicles at Nandgaon Road, making their journey more flexible and user-friendly. The halt has been added in response to public demand and feedback from passengers.

As per the schedule, the train from Kolad will depart at 3:00 PM, arrive at Nandgaon Road by 10:00 PM, and depart from there at 12:00 midnight. In the reverse direction, the train from Verna will depart at 3:00 PM, reach Nandgaon Road by 10:00 PM, and leave at 10:30 PM. Registration for car bookings under the Ro-Ro Car Transportation Service has been extended till 5:00 PM on 18th August 2025.

Freight charges for the service have been set at Rs 7,875 per car for Kolad to Verna and Rs 5,460 per car for Kolad to Nandgaon Road, both inclusive of 5% GST. A non-refundable registration fee of Rs 4,000 per car (inclusive of GST) is applicable, while the remaining freight amount is to be paid at the originating station on the day of travel. Each service has the capacity to carry up to 40 cars, with 2 cars per wagon. However, the service will only be operated if a minimum of 16 cars are booked per trip by the deadline of 18th August 2025, failing which the registration fees will be refunded.

As per the guidelines, once vehicles are loaded onto the Ro-Ro train, neither the driver nor any co-passenger is allowed to stay inside the car. Instead, passengers must travel in the attached 3AC or 2S sitting coaches, with a maximum of three passengers allowed per car booking—two in 3AC and one in 2S. Additional passengers will be accommodated only if seats are available.

For registration, those booking the Kolad–Verna route must register at the Office of the Chief Commercial Manager, CBD Belapur, Navi Mumbai. Bookings for the Verna–Kolad route can be made at Verna Railway Station, while registrations for the Nandgaon Road–Kolad route will be accepted at Kankavali Station. For complete details regarding terms, conditions, and the registration process, passengers are encouraged to visit the official Konkan Railway website at www.konkanrailway.com.
