Mumbai: The disabled coach continues to be crowded in the local trains of Mumbai leading to overcrowding in the compartment causing inconvenience to those who really need it . Since the travel of able-bodied women as it is often near the ladies coach, has also increased in the compartments reserved for the disabled, Thane RPF personnel and Railway TC took some action today. Action has been taken against about 50 women from 10 to 12 local trains.

Unauthorized travel can lead to fines, with typical amounts set at ₹500 or the cost of a ticket from the journey's origin, whichever is higher. In severe cases, offenders may face up to six months of imprisonment. Public shaming measures, such as requiring offenders to stand on crutches during court proceedings, have been reported.
