Since the travel of able-bodied women as it is often near the ladies coach, has also increased in the compartments reserved for the disabled, Thane RPF personnel and Railway TC took some action today. Action has been taken against about 50 women from 10 to 12 local trains.

An unknown disabled person took a video from the local train leaving Kalyan railway station for Mumbai this morning. It has gone viral on social media. In this, it was revealed that some able-bodied passengers are travelling illegally in the compartments reserved for the disabled.

It was revealed that able-bodied women are traveling in the compartments reserved for the disabled, violating the rules during rush hours. Meanwhile, RPF and Maharashtra Security Force personnel caught the infiltrators red-handed on platform number 6 at Thane railway station around this morning. Penal action was taken against the passengers who violated the rules. This bold action has been welcomed by the disabled.

Traveling in the handicap coach of Mumbai local trains without being a person with a disability or accompanying one is illegal and punishable. Unauthorized travel can lead to fines, with typical amounts set at ₹500 or the cost of a ticket from the journey's origin, whichever is higher. In severe cases, offenders may face up to six months of imprisonment. Public shaming measures, such as requiring offenders to stand on crutches during court proceedings, have been reported.

It is crucial to respect the handicap coach's designation for individuals needing special accommodations, as unauthorized use can hinder genuine passengers from accessing necessary seating and boarding opportunities. Furthermore, there are ongoing efforts to enforce the laws and raise awareness regarding the consequences of unlawful travel.

Although regulations exist, instances of able-bodied individuals utilizing these reserved coaches are frequently noted, indicating a need for stricter enforcement of rules. Moreover, if fines are not paid, the offender may be handed over to the railway police for further legal action. This situation underscores the importance of safeguarding the rights of disabled passengers and ensuring they travel comfortably and safely.
