Following the cloudburst incident in the Dharali area of Uttarkashi district in Uttarakhand, the Maharashtra government has launched efforts on a war footing to ensure the safety and timely return of stranded tourists from the state.
Deputy CM Reaches Out to Uttarakhand Officials
Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has reached out to Dilip Jawalkar, Finance Secretary of Uttarakhand, and Nilesh Bharne, Inspector General of Police (Law and Order), requesting immediate assistance for the affected tourists. He emphasized that the government’s top priority is to ensure the safe return of every tourist and to reassure their families.
51 Tourists from Maharashtra Stranded
A total of 51 tourists from Maharashtra are reported to be stranded 11 from Nanded district and 40 from other parts of the state. The state administration is actively coordinating with the Uttarakhand government to provide necessary aid and facilitate their safe relocation. Constant communication is being maintained with the tourists as well as Uttarakhand officials.
Coordination through Maharashtra Sadan
Efforts are also being coordinated through Maharashtra Sadan in New Delhi to bring the stranded tourists home as soon as possible. Instructions have been issued to relevant district administrations in Maharashtra to remain prepared for further support, Deputy CM Pawar informed.
Families Urged Not to Panic
Pawar also urged the relatives of the stranded tourists and pilgrims not to panic, assuring that all possible steps are being taken for their well-being.
