World Music Day is observed annually on June 21 as a lively tribute to the universal language of music. Regardless of whether you are a professional musician or just like humming along to music, this day invites everyone to get an instrument, go outside, and let the beat flow.

History of World Music Day
World Music Day, also known as Fête de la Musique or Make Music Day, originated in France in 1982. It was the brainchild of Jack Lang, then France's Minister of Culture, and Maurice Fleuret, a composer and music journalist. Fleuret, inspired by a survey that showed many French citizens played musical instruments, suggested they bring music into public spaces to foster joy, connection, and cultural celebration.
"Healing Through Harmony," this year's theme, emphasises the therapeutic and emotional benefits of music. It recognises that music is more than just entertainment; it is a force that, particularly during trying times, can reduce worry, uplift spirits, and unite people.
