Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Close on the heels of Pahalgram terror attack, mayor Pushyamitra Bhargav has written to Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav claiming that Pakistan and Bangladeshi Rohingya infiltrators are residing illegally in the city and the state.

Raising serious concerns over internal security threats, Bhargav sought immediate action to tighten security measures across the state and weeding out suspicious elements.

In his letter, the mayor cited recent terrorist attacks on tourists during in Pahalgam, which have sparked nationwide alarm. He warned that there are indications extremist elements are attempting to infiltrate various cities under the guise of legitimate employment, posing a grave risk to law and order.

Bhargav noted that they have inputs from different sources which have flagged the presence of Bangladeshi Rohingya infiltrators and Pakistani agents in different parts of Indore and the state, operating under false identities. He stressed that such developments not only threaten public safety but could also disrupt administrative and internal security frameworks.

Calling for a sweeping verification drive, the Mayor recommended thorough background checks on all workers, particularly those involved in temporary and informal jobs, to weed out any suspicious elements. He further suggested deploying special teams to identify and act against infiltrators to maintain the region's security and stability.

"In view of the prevailing circumstances, it is essential to ensure strict and effective action against such threats to protect public life and uphold law and order," Bhargav wrote. The mayor also assured full cooperation from the Indore Municipal Corporation in coordinating with government agencies to implement these security measures promptly.

If they will not leave (the city), we will push them out,” he said.
