Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargav announced the construction of the much-awaited Bharatvan Park on 36 acres of land in Pologround area in next 10 days.
"The ambitious project will see construction activity starting in next 10 days. This unique green space will feature special galleries representing the diverse culture of India’s states and a pond,” he said after performing bhoomi pujan for road construction and light pole installation projects in Ward 36 on Sunday.
Water resources minister Tulsiram Silawat and Bhargav performed pujan for the new road, stretching from Talavli Chanda to Arandia Bypass, to be constructed for Rs 3 crore and is expected to significantly ease traffic for local residents.
Silawat, praising Indore’s achievements, credited the "double engine government" for the city’s rapid development. He emphasised that strengthening rural foundations is crucial for India’s bright future and assured that the government would prioritise the growth of Indore’s rural areas alongside its urban expansion.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhargav highlighted Indore’s transformation into a smart and futuristic city. He announced that development works worth more than Rs 20 crore have been completed across all 29 villages integrated into the IMC about 12 years ago, with remaining projects progressing rapidly.
"We are preparing Indore for 2050," Bhargava said. He outlined major initiatives, including the fourth phase of the Narmada Project, which will more than double the city’s water supply capacity from 430 MLD to 900 MLD. Besides, for the first time in Indore’s history, 23 master plan roads are under simultaneous construction with an investment of Rs 450 crore.
Underlining the city’s commitment to sustainability, Bhargav shared that under the Green City Mission, Indore has set an ambitious target for annual tree plantation drives and has already installed solar rooftop systems on 32,000 homes, making rapid strides toward leadership in renewable energy.
