Ujjain (Madhya Pradesh): A fire broke out on the roof of Ujjain's sacred Mahakaleshwar Temple on Monday afternoon. The flames started at the Pollution Control Board office located at Gate No. 1 of the temple’s facility center.
Preliminary investigation suggests the fire may have been caused by a blast in an inverter battery. A generator kept near the facilitation centre also caught fire after the blast.
Firefighters responded quickly and brought the fire under control.
Fortunately, no casualties were reported during the incident. Entry of devotees was temporarily stopped for safety reasons, but was resumed after the fire was put out.
Collector Roshan Singh and SP Pradeep Sharma reached the spot and reviewed the situation.
Mahakal police and fire safety officials are investigating the cause of the incident.
There was some chaos for a short time, but the situation is now normal.
