Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A new method of smuggling liquor has come to light from Madhya Pradesh’s Ratlam, where smugglers were found using trains to transport illegal alcohol.
The Government Railway Police (GRP) at Ratlam railway station seized 72 sealed bottles of premium English liquor from a DEMU train. The total value of the seized alcohol was ₹73,800.
GRP received tip-off
GRP police said that ASI Bhuralal Mandod received a tip-off that two individuals were bringing a large quantity of illegal liquor via a local DEMU train coming from Indore.
The suspects were expected to get off at platform number 2. Acting on the information, a team was formed to catch them.
As the train arrived, two suspicious men were seen exiting the platform carrying heavy bags and a blue plastic sack.
They began loading the liquor onto a scooter. Another person on a different scooter was keeping watch nearby.

Accused fled the spot
As soon as the police tried to surround them, all three accused took advantage of the crowd and escaped from the scene. However, the police managed to seize both scooters and the bags, which contained 72 sealed liquor bottles of different brands - totaling 54 liters.
The GRP is currently searching for the absconding accused.
