The incident took place on the night of May 4–5, when unidentified miscreants entered the house of Ramesh Singh (42), in Mahakalpura village.

The attackers assaulted the family and looted cash, gold and silver ornaments as well as livestock. Soon after the crime, police arrested five accused and recovered part of the stolen goods. However, two suspects absconded.
Acting on information that the absconding accused had gone to Ahmedabad and Rajkot, Gujarat, to work as labourers, Bagh police, led by station in-charge Kailash Chauhan, formed a special team and sent them to Gujarat.
The team apprehended Ramesh Bamaniya (23) and Dinesh Bamaniya (23), both residents of Bor Dabra, Gandhwani. The stolen cash was seized, and during interrogation, the duo confessed to being involved in similar loot cases in Tanda, Gandhwani and Dhai police station areas.
