Susner (Madhya Pradesh): The new Civil Hospital is becoming a problem for residents due to its incomplete preparation, unplanned construction and administrative negligence. Even after being built for Rs 8.68 crore, the facilities are no different from the old one.
Due to incomplete construction and an insufficient number of rooms, hospital administration has made temporary cabins with aluminium sheets between the walls.
Doctors and staff are being made to sit and work in these temporary sections. Many doctors are forced to treat patients by sitting on table and chairs kept under the stairs. Basic facilities such as patient privacy, doctors' convenience and treatment of serious diseases have been ignored in the new hospital building.
Approval for 50 beds, treatment on only 9 beds
The government has approved 50 beds for the hospital, but there are only nine beds in the emergency ward. And for the remaining beds, either there is no space or the construction is incomplete. Patients who should ideally be admitted are referred to other hospitals.
No blood bank, no ICU, no operation theatre
The building lacks essential arrangements such as ICU, blood storage unit, Operation Theatre, a sonography unit, post-delivery new-born ward have still not been completed. If the patients coming to the hospital have any serious problem, they are referred to another hospital overnight.
No space for NRC
No section was made for Nutrition Rehabilitation Centre (NRC) in the new hospital building. Out of compulsion, NRC is being operated in the same old building. As a result, the hospital is divided into two parts, doctors in one building and wards in another. This is not only affecting the efficiency of the staff but also increasing the problems of patients and relatives.
No specialist doctor posted
Even after getting the status of a civil hospital, no specialist doctor has been posted here. Patients with serious diseases are still being referred to Shajapur or Ujjain.
Probe demanded
BJP district president Om Malviya said that the irregularities happened during the construction work. A thorough investigation will be conducted and formal inauguration will happen soon.
OFFICER SPEAK
Civil Hospital Susner Block Medical Officer (BMO) Dr BB Patidar said that sections have been created in the hospital as per the accepted standards. At present, a total of 55 beds have been arranged in different wards.
