Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A detailed presentation of new infrastructure projects related to the upcoming Ujjain Simhastha was held before the Supervisory Committee, chaired by Chief Secretary Anurag Jain, at Mantralaya on Wednesday.
A total of 48 project proposals were discussed during the meeting, with Jain directing that a road safety audit must be conducted before initiating any road-related works.
He stressed that dangerous curves should be avoided and roads must have proper alignment to eliminate the risk of accidents. The CS also underlined that alignment flaws should not lead to untoward incidents.
According to sources in the Urban Development and Housing Department, most proposals presented were related to master plan roads of Ujjain. Moreover, Ghat Nirman and parking development were discussed in detail. Of the 48 proposals, around 27 projects were focused solely on Ujjain district, indicating a strong focus on long-term infrastructure enhancement.
The total estimated cost of all proposed projects is nearly Rs 2,500 crore. Proposals from Dewas district were also taken up for consideration. The meeting lasted for over two-and-a-half hours.
The Supervisory Committee, led by Chief Secretary, will now forward cleared proposals to the CM-led committee for final approval. Once sanctioned, project work will commence and funds will be allocated.
In view of the Simhastha, the government is also developing a religious circuit, aimed at facilitating visits to nearby religious sites for pilgrims. Detailed discussions were held on this initiative.
Jain directed that all works should meet high-quality standards and be completed in a time-bound manner. He also issued necessary instructions regarding roadside amenities to support the needs of pilgrims and local residents.
