Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The Regional Transport Office (RTO) of Bhopal seized six school buses on Wednesday during a special inspection drive to enhance school transport safety.
The buses, found operating without valid fitness certificates or permits, have been impounded for further investigation.

The operation led by RTO Jitendra Sharma also penalized three other school vehicles for overloading and lack of insurance, with fines totaling Rs 16,000. Buses from prominent institutions, including St. Montfort School and Jawahar School, were among those flagged for violations.
Sharma termed lapses a ‘serious threat’ to children’s safety and confirmed that the crackdown will continue. He emphasized that only vehicles meeting all safety norms will be allowed to operate and urged parents to verify the safety compliance of school transport services.
He further said that the seized vehicles will remain off the road until all guidelines are adhered to. Regular inspections are planned to ensure strict enforcement of safety standards in school transportation across the capital city, the official said.
