Dhar (Madhya Pradesh): A team of Indore Lokayukta has arrested Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) department project officer in charge Pushpa Bainal of Bagh for taking a bribe of Rs 4,000.
Bainal had initially demanded Rs 6,000 to release funds for the self-help group’s mid-day meal programme.
Sushila Baghel, president of the Radhakrishna Self-Help Group, has been operating the group in Bhamori village for the past six years, providing mid-day meals for Anganwadi children. The government allocates Rs 9,000 per month for this initiative. However, Bainal demanded a bribe to release the funds for March, April and May.
Sushila reported the matter to the Lokayukta office in Indore. After verifying her complaint, the Lokayukta team planned a trap operation, which took place on Tuesday.
Pushpa Bainal, 55, is now facing action under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act. The operation was led by acting DSP Anand Chauhan, along with constables Vijay Kumar, Anil Parmar, Chetan Singh Parihar, Kamlesh Tiwari and woman constable Sonam Chaturvedi.
Patwari held taking Rs 8K
A team of Ujjain Lokayukta team arrested Patwari Yashvardhan Sharma red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 8,000 at Ratlam rural tehsil office on Tuesday afternoon. The accused had previously taken Rs 2,000 from complainant and was caught in the meeting hall while receiving the remaining amount.
The complainant reported that patwari Sharma demanded money for dividing his land in Rojdaka village, prompting the Lokayukta to take action.
Following the complaint made to Ujjain Lokayukta SP, an investigation was conducted, confirming the allegations against Sharma. An FIR has been registered against Patwari Yashvardhan Sharma under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
The operation involved Lokayukta inspector Deepak Shejwar and other team members, including constables Anil Atolia, Israr Khan and Umesh Jatav.
