Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A day after the body of an 8-month-old baby girl was found in a water tank at a house in Indore, it was confirmed that the mother had killed her over a family dispute on Thursday.
The incident is of the Dwarkapuri area, police revealed that the baby’s mother has confessed to killing her.

According to police, Varsha Chauhan, the mother of the child, was questioned late on Wednesday night. During interrogation, she admitted that she drowned her daughter Mayra in the tank after getting upset with her mother-in-law.
She told police that her mother-in-law did not let her hold or care for the baby, which made her angry.
Varsha said she placed the baby in the water tank, closed the lid, and even kept the water motor on top to avoid suspicion. Later, she created panic by shouting that the baby had gone missing.
Family members told the police that Varsha’s mental health had not been stable in recent months. They shared that she had once thrown the baby on the floor out of anger.
Police also found out that this was Varsha’s second marriage, and she has another daughter from her first husband. Neighbours and relatives also spoke about her frequent anger and violent behaviour.
The baby’s father, Avinash Chauhan, runs a ready-made clothing business. He was inside the bathroom at the time of the incident. When he came out, Varsha claimed the baby was missing. After a search, the body was discovered in the tank.
Varsha has been arrested, and police are continuing the investigation.
