Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A contractor was booked over negligence after a 24-year-old labourer lost her life at a construction site in Madhya Pradesh's Indore, the police said on Friday.
According to information, a brick falling from the fourth floor of an under-construction building hit the head of the woman which lead to her immediate death.
The incident occurred on June 15 while construction work was underway at a house in Kanchan Vihar Colony.
According to police, the deceased was identified as Neema Rathore, who was working as a daily wage labourer.
During the construction work, a brick fell from the fourth floor of the building and struck her head while she was working on the ground floor.
'Safety measures weren't maintained'
She was initially rushed to a private hospital for treatment and later referred to another hospital in Scheme No. 114 where she succumbed to her injuries during treatment.
During investigation and after recording statements of witnesses, it came to light that the contractor Bhagirath Chauhan of Dheeraj Nagar had failed to ensure basic safety measures at the site and had not provided safety gear such as helmets.
A case of negligence to death has been registered against the accused under section 106 (1) of the BNS and further investigation is underway.
