Indore (Madhya Pradesh): MTH Hospital has received Rs 25 lakh to launch Madhya Pradesh’s first e-Shishu online monitoring pilot project, aimed at reducing newborn mortality.
The project, under the National Health Mission, has a total estimated cost of Rs 1 crore. A 24x7 health monitoring control room is being set up at MTH, which will connect to Special Newborn Care Units (SNCUs) in government hospitals across 17 districts including Ujjain, Dewas, Dhar and Jhabua.
According to mission deputy director Himani Yadav, the project is targeted to begin by 15 September. The control room will have two paediatricians and dedicated nursing staff monitoring infants in SNCUs through zoom video conferencing.
Real-time online monitoring will help ensure timely intervention for newborns in critical condition, improving survival chances. The initiative marks a significant step towards digital healthcare in the neonatal sector, with MTH Hospital at the centre of this innovative, state-level effort.
