Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Indore’s Devi Ahilyabai Holkar International Airport will change the timing of its only direct international Sharjah flight. The flight is operated by Air India Express.

The change comes due to scheduled runway repairs at the airport. Authorities announced that the airport will close at 10:30 PM starting April 1. Without a new time slot, the flight risked cancellation.

Air India Express applied for a second slot. The new slot was approved. The airline will now operate the flight two hours earlier. Currently, the flight departs at 11:55 PM and reaches Sharjah at 2:05 AM. Under the new schedule, it will leave at 10:25 PM. This change is expected to be implemented after April 3. The airline has already stopped taking bookings for flights beyond that date. New bookings will begin soon once the revised timing is in effect.

The flight is operated on four days each week – Monday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday. Travel agents have hailed this service as the most successful flight from Indore. They say it has outperformed the Indore-Dubai route. Despite the inconvenience of a night-time departure, which sometimes forces passengers to incur extra hotel expenses during layovers, the flight continues to see high demand. Reports of overbooking have emerged, confirming its popularity among travelers.
