Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Flights to seven new destinations will take off from the city during the winter schedule, which will start from October 26.
For the first time, there will be air connectivity between Indore and Rewa and Navi Mumbai. Flights to Gondia, Nashik, Jodhpur, Jammu and Udaipur will also be resumed.
The winter schedule will come into effect from October 26 and continue till March 28.
The airlines have already taken permission from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). They will start the flights as per their convenience during the winter schedule.
As per the airport sources, IndiGo and Air India Express have taken permission to start operating flights from here to Navi Mumbai’s new international airport. The work of this airport is almost complete. Flights will start from here soon after the necessary permissions. Alliance Air will operate flights to Rewa.
Flight operation is going to resume for Gondia, Nashik, Jodhpur, Jammu and Udaipur city. Star Air has taken permission to fly from Indore to Gondia. It may be pointed out that Star Air used to operate flights from here a long time ago, but later it stopped the operation.
Sources made it clear that this was a proposed schedule. The date of starting of the flights would be fixed later. Sometimes flights start in the middle of the session as well. The airport management said that it had approved all the proposals.
Currently 84 flights are being operated from the airport. IndiGo will operate the maximum number of flights.
Aviation sources said that the new season would start from October itself. Travellers would benefit a lot from flights to new cities. After the new flights begin, the city would have the air connectivity with Pune, Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Jaipur, Raipur, Jabalpur, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Goa, Chandigarh, Jammu, Chennai, Jodhpur, Ghaziabad, Nashik, Udaipur, Gondia, Bhubaneshwar, Jaipur, Lucknow, Rewa, Nagpur, Kolkata and Sharjah.
