Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Pardesipura police arrested four accused and detained a minor boy in connection with the petrol bomb attack on a goon’s house that took place on the intervening night of June 13 and June 14 in Gali No 9, Pardeshipura, police said on Saturday. The arrests were made after scanning more than 100 CCTV footages.
The police registered a case against the accused under sections of organised crime, citing that the incident was pre-planned and executed with full coordination. The accused allegedly conspired in advance, changed their clothes during the crime to mislead investigators and used a borrowed bike without a number plate to avoid identification.
Attack planned due to old rivalry
Additional DCP (zone-2) Amrendra Singh said that the crime was committed due to old enmity. On the night of the attack, miscreants riding a bike threw a petrol bomb near the house of Lokesh Khopde. The CCTV footage of the incident had gone viral on social media, creating panic in the area.
The police are still searching for their accomplices Vishal and other absconding suspects. Preliminary investigations revealed that Rohit and Vishal conspired to instill fear and cause property damage at Lokesh Khopde'shouse. They hired two persons by providing them with a bike and gave them the location to carry out the attack.
Accused tried to mislead police
The attackers changed their clothes before and after the attack to confuse police. During the crime, they wore T-shirts and pants, and after fleeing, changed back into shirts and pants. Despite the attempt to mislead, police traced them using CCTV footage.
Bike used was a dowry gift
Police found that the bike used in the attack had been received by Lucky alias Guppy as dowry just two weeks earlier. The bike has been seized. The accused took a bike without number plate from Scheme No. 78 and later returned it in Dewas.
A gang history sheet is being prepared for all the accused and district externment proceedings are also being proposed. Investigations are ongoing to ascertain where and from whom the petrol bombs were bought.
