Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A man from Gujarat was arrested by the crime branch for duping people of Rs 82 lakh on the pretext of providing houses to them under PM Awas Yojana, police said on Sunday.
DCP (crime) Rajesh Kumar Tripathi informed the media persons that Chandan Patil, a resident of the Bhanwarkuan area and permanent resident of Harda, had lodged a complaint that his room partner named Deepak Turkar had informed him that he works as a contractor for PMAY.
He had shown the flats of IDA informing that the flats belong to PMAY. He had taken Rs 20 lakh from the complainant on the pretext of selling the flat under PMAY. Other complainants named Naman Chaudhary, Mohit Bake, Saurabh Patil, Girish Meda and others were also duped of Rs 62 lakh. A case under section 316 (2), 318 (4), 336, 338, 340 of the BNS was registered.
A bounty of Rs 10,000 for the immediate arrest of the accused was announced by the police. During the investigation, the crime branch team managed to arrest Jatin Bhai Maniya alias Deepak Turkar alias Shailesh alias Neeraj Patel alias AK Patel alias Sandeep Patel, a resident of Bhavnagar, Gujarat.
The accused has confessed to cheating the complainant and other people by giving them a fake name and showing flats built under IDA and government schemes in the name of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.
