Indore (Madhya Pradesh) : A fire broke out in a printing and gift shop in Scheme No. 71 near Ranjeet Hanuman Temple late on Sunday night. All the goods in the shop, like printing machines, computers, furniture, books and gift items were gutted.

The shop owner alleged that the fire brigade arrived one-and-a-half hours late after being informed, which led to more damage. The fire started at 1:40 am when the building owner noticed smoke emerging from the shop.

He immediately informed shop owner Santosh Jain of Jai Jinendra Graphics & Gift Shop who rushed to the scene. When he opened the shutter, he found the shop full of smoke and goods including electronic items on fire. Gradually, the fire intensified, causing fear among residents as the glasses and electronic items’ batteries started blasting.

Locals claimed that despite their repeated calls, the fire brigade reached the site at around 3 AM. They said the extent of the damage could have been minimized had the fire brigade arrived on time.

Fire extinguished with 12,000 litres of water

According to the fire brigade, they arrived promptly after receiving the alert. The fire was brought under control using 12,000 litres of water. However, printing machines, computers, furniture, books and gift items etc were destroyed. A storage area behind the shop was also gutted. Preliminary reports suggest that a short circuit caused the fire.
