Chhatarpur (Madhya Pradesh): A mentally-challenged youth clubbed his father to death in Bharwa village under Khajuraho police station on Monday.

Youth had altercation with his father over property distribution

The youth also attacked his cousin who tried to save the father of the mentally-challenged. After the incident, the villagers tied the youth to a rope and handed him over to the police.

According to reports, 30-year-old Rampal, mentally- challenged son of Manku Pal, had an altercation with his father over distribution of properties.

He suddenly picked up a club kept in a nearby Hanuman temple and hit his father with it. Rampal continued to batter his father until he slumped to the ground and died.

Rampal then attacked his cousin

Rampal attacked his cousin Mahesh who tried to save Manku. Mahesh who sustained injuries was sent to a hospital. Some villagers then tied him to a rope and handed him over to the police.  

The villagers said Manku had three sons and there was a dispute between Rampal and his father over distribution of properties.  Rampal demanded his grandfather’s properties.

Sub-divisional officer of police (Khajuraho) Naveen Dubey said Rampal had been arrested and a probe was underway.
