Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Madhya Pradesh has seen a dry start to August as no strong rain system is currently active.
In the first six days of the month, the state received less than one inch of rain.
According to the Meteorological Department, this is the first long dry spell during this year’s monsoon season.
Rain Forecast:
The second week of August is expected to bring more rain. The rain activity is likely to pick up around mid-August and may continue till the end of the month.
While nine districts, including Gwalior, have already completed their seasonal rainfall quota, areas in Indore and Ujjain divisions are still behind.
In the eastern part of the state (Jabalpur, Sagar, Shahdol, and Rewa), rainfall is 45% above average. In the western part (Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Gwalior, Chambal, and Narmadapuram), the rainfall is 36% above average.
Senior weather scientist Dr. Divya E. Surendran said that although some weather systems like a monsoon trough, another trough line, and a cyclonic circulation are active, they are not affecting Madhya Pradesh right now.
This is why heavy rains have stopped. Light rain may occur in some places, but this dry weather is likely to continue till August 10.
Temperature Update:
On Wednesday, Shivpuri saw light drizzles. In contrast, Khajuraho (Chhatarpur) recorded 35°C. Other places like Gwalior, Ratlam, Sheopur, Ujjain, Damoh, Rewa, Satna, and Umaria also reported temperatures of 33°C or more. In Bhopal, the day’s high was 32.7°C.
