Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) has received unexpectedly low registrations for doctoral entrance test (DET)-2024 with only 200 candidates applying for 167 seats across 13 subjects even as the deadline ends on Thursday.

However, the university's administration has signaled at extending the deadline by three to four days to boost participation. The DET is conducted for subjects not covered under the National Eligibility Test (NET), including Applied Mathematics, Data Science, Computer Engineering, Pharmacy and Mechanical Engineering, among others.

Despite offering 167 seats under 66 supervisors, the number of applications has failed to reach double the available seats, raising concerns about low interest. Meanwhile, 24 other PhD subjects, including English, History, Management, and Commerce, which rely on NET scores for admissions, have also witnessed lukewarm response.

Only 400 candidates have registered so far, a significant drop compared to previous years. The DET examination is scheduled for December 22 and will be conducted offline at designated study centres.

DET incharge Dr Ashesh Tiwari acknowledged the low turnout and stated that discussions with the vice chancellor Dr Rakesh Singhai would determine if the application period will be extended.
