Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Madhya Pradesh West Zone Electricity Distribution Company claimed that complaints related to fuse-off calls have dropped by an average of 30 per cent in areas where underground cables have been installed.
These areas include Sirpur Zone, Malwa Mill Zone, Khajrana Zone and Sukhliya Zone.
Areas with newly laid underground electricity cables under Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) in the city reported fewer power supply disruptions compared to other regions, says an official press note from West Discom.
The underground cabling project has been implemented across 20 kilometres in select areas of the city, reducing power interruptions and electrical faults.
According to North Division executive engineer Vinay Pratap Singh, the initiative has led to noticeable improvements in areas such as Lala Ka Bagicha and Malwa Mill, where underground cables have been installed for low-tension electricity distribution from 22 transformers.
"Not only the underground cables have minimised power losses but also curbed disruptions caused by external factors like tree branches, birds, kites and sheets," Singh said.
Similarly, in Chandan Nagar area, where underground cables have been laid for consumers connected to eight transformers, incidents of power theft have decreased while the number of faults has become negligible. Khajrana is another area that has seen a marked improvement in power supply quality, with a significant reduction in interruptions.
