Mahidpur (Madhya Pradesh): A government school teacher in Madhya Pradesh has been accused of burning a photo of Bharat Mata and damaging pictures of Maa Saraswati, Lord Ganesh, and other respected figures.

The incident took place in Nagpura village, about 8 km from Jharda Tehsil.

According to information, the accused, Shakeel Mohammad Nagori, teaches at the Government Secondary School in Nagpura. According to Jharda police station in-charge Anand Bhabor, a complaint was lodged by Rohit Rathore, a local resident. He stated that his relative, Anurag Rathore, a Class 6 student, informed him about the teacher’s actions.

Anurag alleged that on July 11, after school ended at 4 pm, Nagori burned a photo of Bharat Mata in front of the students and also broke pictures of deities. He allegedly threatened the children not to speak about the incident to anyone.

Other students, including Kamal, Bhola, Anushka, Pawan, Anjali, Pinky, Varsha, and Chetan, also confirmed the incident to villagers. When Rohit and his friend Lalchand Vishwakarma visited the school, they found a half-burnt photo of Bharat Mata near the premises. It was handed over to Nagulal, father of student Varsha.

Police have launched an investigation. The incident has triggered outrage in the local community.

Rohit Rathore said that this act has deeply hurt the religious sentiments of the village and their society. The villagers also informed other teachers from the school about the matter.

It is noteworthy that there have been past complaints against Shakeel Mohammad Nagori for similar issues like teaching religious practices and misbehavior.

After the incident, there is anger among the villagers and workers of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal. They have submitted a memorandum to the cluster principal and district superintendent of police demanding strict action. Police are currently investigating the case.
