Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Indore has once again secured the top spot in the Swachh Survekshan 2024 rankings, announced in Delhi on Thursday, marking its eighth consecutive win as the cleanest city in India.
President Droupadi Murmu felicitated the city for its unmatched cleanliness record. This year, Indore has also been inducted into the newly formed "Super League," a category that features 23 cities which have consistently ranked in the top three positions in past national cleanliness surveys.

Celebration of cleanliness in Indore
As Indore received the cleanliness award in Delhi, a live telecast ceremony was organized at the corporation premises. Corporation officials and sanitation workers came together to celebrate the proud moment, cheering and applauding the city’s achievement, reflecting their hard work, dedication, and collective spirit in maintaining Indore’s status as the cleanest city.

The award ceremony was attended by Urban Development Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya, Indore Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava, and Corporation Commissioner Harshika Singh, among others. The achievement has once again highlighted Indore’s commitment to cleanliness and public hygiene.

Indore will teach cleanliness lessons to other cities
Indore Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava said that “Indore is the topper again. This time the Government of India had kept cities like Indore in a separate league and ranked the cities other than that. We were at the top in this league even before other cities of the country. Even after coming into this league, Indore's result is topper.”
Indore has become a model of cleanliness for cities across the country, has gone far ahead of the competition for number 1. Now Indore is in the role of a guide and will teach cleanliness lessons to other cities.
Indore is coming first since 2017
Indore has been coming first in the Swachh Survey since the year 2017. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also said about Indore that when other cities think of doing something, Indore has already done that work. This has also proved true regarding cleanliness.
Indore's public participation model is praised across the country. The series of innovations, mutual coordination and the passion to do something new keep us ahead of other cities. Today when other cities are fighting for the first, second and third position, Indore has reached a special position by being at the top for 8 consecutive years.
Presidential Award to Bhopal, Dewas, Shahganj
It has been decided that the capital of Madhya Pradesh, Bhopal, will get the award in the most important category of Presidential Award. Similarly, Dewas Municipal Corporation will also be honoured with the Presidential Award and Shahganj has also been marked for the award. All these cities will be given this award in their respective categories.
What will be the ranking, it is not yet disclosed, but this ranking will be between number 1 to 3. Similarly, Jabalpur has been selected in the Ministerial Award of Special Category and Gwalior Municipal Corporation has been selected for the Ministerial Award at the state level. Their ranking is also not decided, which can be between number 1 to number 3.
